Abstract:
The present collective monograph was prepared in the context of current theoretical and methodological problems of lexicology and lexicography of the modern Ukrainian language. It covers a wide range of research tasks of translation, explanatory and aspectual lexicography, considering the achievements of the Ukrainian lexicographic tradition and the authors of the monograph’s own experience.
The structure of the publication corresponds to the areas of work that were relevant for the lexicographers’ collective during the first two decades of the 21st century: translation lexicography (section 1), explanatory lexicography (section 2), consolidated lexicon (section 3), phraseology (section 4), new lexicographic projects (section 5).
In particular, the theoretical foundations of compiling translation dictionaries are considered, the work of Ukrainian lexicographers on the creation of Russian-Ukrainian dictionaries in the light of lexicographic criticism is summarized, as well as the experience of lexicographic participles. The issues of the dynamics of the modern Ukrainian lexicon and the standardization of lexicographic activity in general-language dictionaries are highlighted.
Based on a comparative analysis of the structural and functional specificity of the word according to various lexicographic sources, the development of the semantic structure of words and its reflection in explanatory dictionaries are traced; the issue of interpreting industry vocabulary is investigated, and an attempt is made to unify the lexicographic fixation of industry remarks in the explanatory dictionary.
A new methodology of systematic study of the lexical composition of the Ukrainian language of the 18th-21st centuries based on the consolidated dictionary, made based on materials of the most famous dictionaries of different types and genres (explanatory, orthographic, translated, encyclopedic) is proposed. Abstract vocabulary in the register of the consolidated word index “Ukrainian Lexicon of the Late XVIII – Early XXI Centuries” is examined and systematized according to the main methods of word formation.
The dynamics of the phraseological subsystem of the Ukrainian language are traced through the parameterization of corpora of Ukrainian phraseology The ways of presenting phraseological units with intensity semantics in phraseographic works are investigated.
The monograph also describes the structure of the rhyming dictionaries and reveals its’ theoretical and applied using; the neologism in terms of its fixation in dictionaries; and the concept of development of a new direction in domestic linguistics (Ukrainian surdolinguistic) is submitted.
